Parashat Tazria

Dear Friend,

For months now, our hearts and minds have been turned to the events transpiring in Israel and Gaza.  Ever since the horrific attacks of this past Shemini Atzeret, our attention has been focused on our Holy Land, the tragic events that occured there on October 7th, the response of the IDF and the safety of its soldiers, and certainly on the fate of the hostages.

As we continue to pray for the success and wellbeing of the members of the Israel Defense Force as they operate in Gaza, northern Israel and beyond, let us not forget to keep the 100-plus men women and children, soldiers and civilians, being held against their will in Gaza by a vile terrorist organization at the forefronf of our minds.

This past Tuesday we celebrated the occasion of Rosh Chodesh Nissan.

We continue to to beseech the Almighty with heartfelt prayers for the imminent release of these hostages, and advocate for their safety and well-being.   Let us also keep in mind the teaching of our Jewish tradition, "In the month of Nissan our ancestors were redeemed, and it is in the month of Nissan that the Jewish people will be redeemed in the future."
Just as our ancestors were redeemed from Egypt in antiquity during the month of Nissan, so too let us hope and pray that the captives being held hostage in Gaza will be speedily released today, during this month of Nissan.

Shabbat Shalom,

Rabbi Peretz Robinson
