Are You on Time? Friday evening and Shabbat daytime davening times are set for the convenience of everyone in our community. Too often our services cannot begin on time because we lack a 10th man to complete our minyan. Your friends are in shul waiting to begin. Being on time Friday nights at 7 pm, Shabbat mornings at 9;15 am, and Shabbat afternoons shows you truly care. Your presence on time is valuable beyond measure. Please. . . commit yourself to keeping our Ahavath Achim minyan alive and well.

Challenge Grant for Nadvirna Cemetery
Leslie Nolan of Southport is a Peace Corps volunteer in Nadvirna, Ukraine, whose Jewish population was all but decimated during World War II. Leslie, who is not Jewish, is racing the clock to raise funds to clean up and preserve the local Jewish cemetery, a one-acre property containing some 5,000 graves. Leslie has secured a €15,000 matching grant. She has already obtained €5,000 in donations. She must raise an additional €10,000 by August 1 in order to secure the ESJF matching grant and complete the project to restore and preserve the cemetery. The Federation for Jewish Philanthropy sent out the original information on this project, which you may have already read about in your email from them.
This is a meritorious project which deserves consideration by anyone interested in helping to preserve Europe’s decimated Jewish cemeteries. If you would like to contribute towards this project, please send your check to Congregation Ahavath Achim, 92 Montauk Street, Fairfield, CT 06825. Make your check payable to Congregation Ahavath Achim and be sure to note Nadvima Cemetery Project in the memo on your check. Congregation Ahavath Achim will match all donations up to a total of $1,500. All money will be held until they have reached their goal. Any checks not needed will be returned.
Please call Elaine Schiller if you have any questions *203-218-3121.
